About Us
Our aims and objectives
To encourage public, private, community and voluntary sectors to work together towards the regeneration of the area.
The key themes of the SIP strategy are:
Working Gorbals
- Increase access to jobs for unemployed Gorbals residents
- Increase opportunities for Gorbals residents who are currently unable to work due to ill health, disability or caring responsibilities
- Ensure Gorbals residents have the appropriate support and training to enable them to find and retain employment
Learning Gorbals
- Enable children and young people to achieve their potential from an early age
- Encourage life long learning for all Gorbals residents
- Ensure all Gorbals residents have the opportunity to learn through information and communication technology
Healthy Gorbals
- Improve access to health services for Gorbals residents
- Ensure all local residents have the opportunity for better health
- Promote positive mental health
Safe Gorbals
- Reduce the number of crimes in the Gorbals community
- Reduce drug misuse in the area
- Improve the Gorbals image as a safe area in the city
Vibrant Gorbals
- Ensure high quality housing choices for Gorbals residents
- Ensure high quality environment and access to facilities within the area
- Ensure Gorbals residents are active citizens
What we do
Provide a structured strategic planning process in the Gorbals by:
- Promoting more effective partnership working and 'joined up' responses by agencies to address specific local issues
- Funding local projects and activities within the area to tackle social exclusion
- Developing and supporting structures through which local people can become involved in all aspects of the community
- Providing opportunities for all persons in the area to develop the skills, learning and attributes necessary to ensure their inclusion in society
Funding Bodies
Our main funding bodies are Scottish Executive, Communities Scotland, NHS Greater Glasgow and Glasgow City Council.
