Childcare Works offers long term unemployed Glaswegians the opportunity to work and train for up to a year in a variety of Childcare projects across the City of Glasgow. There are opportunities for adults of all ages and backgrounds, male and female.

What jobs are on offer

Our childcare jobs in the Gorbals are offering opportunities in the pre-five centre's covering childcare experience working with children 0 - 5 years.

The Childcare Works employment package offers you a paying job, work-based training and a personal learning choice. This is supported with job search skills to ensure you will move into permanent employment.

What qualifications are there?

From 2002, anyone working with children will need to have, or be working towards, an appropriate childcare qualification. Gorbals Childcare Works offers you the opportunity to step on to the career ladder through a Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) Level 2 in Early Years and Education for those choosing to work with pre-five children.

Moving on

Childcare Works offers a job contract for up to 52 weeks. Our workers move onto jobs as Childcare Workers in nurseries and out of School Services, Classroom Assistants and Special Needs Assistants. Support for further training may also be available.

A career in childcare can lead to starting your own childcare business, childminding, teaching/training, health work, community education or community development work.

How do I apply?

If you reside within the G5 or G42 postcode areas, and have not been working for sometime or have never had a steady job you may have particular concerns about taking up employment. Childcare Works projects can help you before you start to look at any issues such as your own childcare or money advice and ensure a smooth transition into work. This support will continue throughout your time with us.
