What We Do
The Forum use a combination of community development methods and approaches to engage with, support, and build capacity of the local community. This includes individuals, groups and organisations. We support local people to draw on their own skills and knowledge and work with them to find creative solutions to local problems.
Services we deliver to the community include programmes around:
- Community Involvement & Participation
- Communication & Information
- Training
- Group Development support
- Support to Networks
Examples of the types of support we give include:
- Offering appropriate, tailor-made training to
organisations in response to needs for e.g. minute
taking skills, committee skills, confidence building,
food & hygeine, financial admin, anti-discrimination
and equalities training
- Offering information, advice and support on a
variety of issues- people call us or drop-in as they
require to our friendly, community-based office.
- Supporting community voice/voices- we do this by
giving people the chance to have their say at one off
events or themed meetings for e.g. transport. We
also offer more informal support and mentoring to
individuals who are involved in local groups, forums
and networks.
- Encouraging organisations and individuals to be
more involved in existing networks
- Encouraging participation in community events by
making them fun and by taking account of childcare
needs and children's activities.
- Help with Funding Applications and related
skills
- Help with Constitutions
