Opposite
Caledonian Road Church is the new development of the Crown Street Regeneration
Project.
This is designed to bring back the traditional street network, lined mainly by four-storey tenements.
Alexander Crescent is named after Alexander Row, houses once close to the Govan Iron Works nearby. This building replaces the notorious damp-infested flats and maisonettes of the Hutchesontown ‘Area E’, occupied between 1972 and 1980.
The project sets new standards for regeneration in the Gorbals in terms of urban design, architecture and building materials. A striking part of this are the stone-clad corner towers seen on many buildings. They contrast strongly with the remaining 24-storey blocks visible behind.

Looking
left at the junction of Pine Place and Errol Gardens there are excellent examples
of the New Gorbals Housing Association stock in Benny Lynch Court, designed
by Cooper Cromar.

To the right in Pine Place itself, opposite the health centre, are handsome town houses.
