Described
in Buildings of Scotland as “a clean cut, white-tiled cube” the main
buildings of the Glasgow College of Nautical Studies were opened in 1969 by Lord
Mountbatten of Burma.
The rooftop has radar masts and a planetarium, and near the river the college extends across an overhead link to a jetty.
This part of the riverside has an upgraded walkway with reproduction Glasgow lampposts as seen in Carlton Place.

Just
along from the college is St Enoch Bridge. This five-arch bridge dates from
1898-1902, replacing the original City of Glasgow Union Railway’s structure of
1867. It was primarily to serve the then new St Enoch Station.
