The Hutchesontown District Library was part of Glasgow’s
original public library system: the Mitchell Library and sixteen
district libraries. It is now home to community organisations.

The
beautiful architectural detail is enhanced by a sculptural frieze showing St
Mungo flanked by maidens above the entrance, gryphons supporting the top tower
and female figure holding a book as the finial.

On
the south gable is a sculpture 'The Three Muses' by the Gorbals Arts Project,
with Bellarmine Arts Association and the pupils of St Francis’ Primary School.
